Schleifenbaum & Adler is a founding member of CONSULEGIS EWIV. This network, which has been existence since 1990 and has the legal form of a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG), now includes around 90 law firms in around 45 countries and more than 150 cities. A total of more than 1600 lawyers virtually all over the world are networked in it. Some tax consultants and auditors are also part of the organisation. CONSULEGIS members meet certain quality requirements specified by the organisation for admission. Like Schleifenbaum & Adler, most CONSULEGIS partners are medium-sized. Representatives of the law firms that are members of CONSULEGIS EWIV meet regularly twice a year within or outside Europe at locations of CONSULEGIS partners. In addition, various specialist events, mostly with international participants, are staged within the organisation. Schleifenbaum & Adler generally sends several delegates to the various meetings. As a result, the members of Schleifenbaum & Adler are personally acquainted with many lawyers working for the respective CONSULEGIS partners. Over the years, amiable relations have developed with a number of European, Canadian and American colleagues. Not least due to its CONSULEGIS membership, Schleifenbaum & Adler is regularly involved in trying cases and working for clients at the national or international levels, in particular when it comes to issues involving German law and the enforcement of rights in Germany. It is even more important for Schleifenbaum & Adler that membership in CONSULEGIS makes it possible to rely on the support of the international CONSULEGIS partners when there are cases of its own clients having an international element. Collaboration in such situations ranges from obtaining expert opinions on issues requiring assessment as required in foreign legal systems to providing legal advice and acting as counsel in contractual negotiations, in court and arbitration proceedings or in enforcement measures abroad. Through collaboration with CONSULEGIS partners that we are acquainted with, we are able to provide qualified legal advice and counsel abroad. In many cases, the respective Schleifenbaum & Adler lawyer in charge can judge on the basis of his or her own knowledge who would be the best lawyer to defend your interests abroad, perhaps because he or she knows the particular CONSULEGIS partner himself or has already had concrete experience with the CONSULEGIS partner through cases they have tried together. Membership in CONSULEGIS EWIV enables Schleifenbaum & Adler to combine the personal service offered by a medium-sized law firm with a professional range of services practically anywhere and everywhere at the national and international levels – a claim that one usually only finds with larger law firms.
